Kim Min-jae named in UCL squad to face Galatasaray in third leg

Kim Min-jae will step on Turkiye soil for the first time in more than a year and a half.

Bayern Munich will host Galatasaray in the third leg of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) Group A match of the 2023-24 season at the Ali Samiyen Spor Complex in Turkiye, Istanbul, at 1:45 a.m. ET on June 25. Munich leads the group with two wins and six points, while Galatasaray is second with one win and one draw (four points).

With just two days to go before the match, the Bavarians had their final training camp session in Tegernsee on the 23rd and immediately boarded a plane. The Bavarians’ official social media accounts immediately revealed their squad for the trip to Galatasaray. Kim Min-jae made the cut. Sven Ulreich, Matthijs de Ligt, Josua Kimmich, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Alfonso Davies, and Jamal Moussaala are also on the road.

The match against Galatasaray is crucial for Munich. The Bavarians already sit atop the group with six points, having won their first two matches. The Bavarians narrowly beat Manchester United 4-3 at home in the first leg and then defeated Copenhagen 2-1. Galatasaray are second in the group with one win and one draw (4 points), so a win here would put them firmly at the top of the group.

The problem is the overload of the main defense line. Kim Min-jae’s fitness is out of control. Kim has started 14 consecutive games this season, including the Bundesliga 8th round match against Mainz 05 on Oct. 22. With the exception of a substitute appearance in the DFL-Supercup, which was his official debut, Kim has started every game. In addition, he started 토토사이트 all four games while wearing the Taeguk-mark during the A-Match in September and October.

No rotation is possible. This season, Munich started the season with three first-choice defenders. However, De Ligt was sidelined with an injury early in the season. On top of that, Dayo Upamecano went down and is expected to be out for a while.

Fortunately, De Lichte returned to action against Mainz last week and combined with Kim Min-Jae. “I had a good game,” De Lichte told the German ‘Kicker’. He has the ability to work well with me. The more we play, the better (our chemistry) will be.”
