Forbes compares Dodgers to 1927 110-win Yankees

“Money talks,” says Forbes, and the U.S. business magazine is calling the Los Angeles Dodgers’ batting lineup “lethal.”

Forbes on Thursday compared the 2024 lineup to the New York Yankees’ 1927 lineup, noting that the Dodgers spent more than $1 billion in the offseason to bolster their pitching.

The 1927 Yankees won 110 games, led by Babe Ruth’s 60 home runs and Lou Gehrig’s 47.

The expectation was that Shohei Ohtani and Betsu Mookie would fill the roles of Ruth and Gehrig.

Here are some of the players the Dodgers signed or re-signed this offseason

Designated hitter Shohei Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million contract as a free agent. Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez signed a one-year, $23.5 million deal as a free agent. Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed as a free agent for 12 years and $325 million. Tyler Glasnow, acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays, signed a five-year, $136.56 million contract. James Paxton signed as a free agent for one year and $7 million. Clayton Kershaw signed as a free agent for two years and $10 million. Enrique Hernandez returned to the Dodgers on a one-year, $4 million deal.

Forbes said that if the Dodgers have a weakness, it could be the starting rotation, but even that would be temporary. Walker Buehler (Tommy John surgery), Dustin May (flexor tendon surgery), and Tony Gonsolito (Tommy John surgery) will return next year, Kershaw is targeting a return this summer, and Ohtani, who had elbow surgery, will return to the mound as a starter next season.

“Any manager in any professional baseball league in the world would be happy to submit a lineup like the one Dodgers manager Dave Roberts submits every day,” Forbes said of the starting lineup.

The Dodgers’ lineup is the same as Da Nang’s.

Chris Taylor is the best utility player in the game, according to Forbes. Backup catcher Austin Barnes could 토토사이트 be the starting catcher for some MLB clubs, and Enrique Hernandez also offers great versatility.

Forbes explained that the Dodgers minimized risk by signing several star players to long-term contracts. Ohtani is signed through 2033. Glassnow is signed through 2027. Yamamoto is signed through 2035. Betts is signed through 2032, and Freeman, 34, is signed through 2027.

Forbes emphasized that these contracts provide team stability, noting that if these five players continue to make an impact, the rewards could be fantastic.
